We are a small group of young people aged 10 – 18, and up to 25 with SEND, who are passionate about the environment and keen to make a real difference in North Lincolnshire – and possibly even wider.
We try to meet once a month to have meetings to plan events, discuss ideas and look at what else we could be doing.
We formed earlier in 2025, and have so far:
- Met regularly at Normanby Hall and 20-21 Visual Arts Centre for meetings.
- Spoken to an environmental expert, Alan Raw, about the group, to do a Q&A and get his input on our ideas and plans.
- Spoken with the Council’s Parks & Green Spaces team to discuss how we can support the environment at Normanby Hall. We have also discussed the bin/litter situation in North Lincolnshire and ideas of how our group could support and help improve this.
- Planned and run a “Pollinator Workshop” at Normanby Hall where we talked to the public to educate and promote the supporting of pollinators. We also helped create items to takeaway including bee houses, bee water feeding station, wildflower seed bombs and planting sunflower seeds.
- An art exhibition with entries from the public.
- Created a bug hotel at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, after they invited us in to do this.
- We are discussing future plans which include:
- A fundraising event for the group to be able to do more and put more educative events on
- An environmental fun day
- Creation of more bug hotels for organisations and public spaces in and around North Lincolnshire
- Continue discussions with the Council about making bins more colourful
- Continue discussions with the Council and Normanby Hall about activities we can help and volunteer with
